Egypt to Organize an Investment Conference in Cooperation with the European Union

The Prime Minister meets with the CEO of the General Authority for Investment to discuss arrangements for organizing the investment conference in cooperation with the European Union.

Today, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, met with Mr. Hossam Heiba, the CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, to review the arrangements for organizing the investment conference in cooperation with the European Union, along with a number of activities of the authority.


At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the state's focus on investment climate reform and facilitating the business environment to attract more foreign and local investments and achieve positive results that support the national economy.


The Prime Minister directed the formation of a small working group from the Cabinet, the Investment Authority, and the relevant ministries to prepare the technical files for the investment conference, which will be held in cooperation with the European Union on June 29th. This includes the agenda, speakers, key topics to be discussed, and cooperation agreements to be signed, in addition to the logistical aspects of the conference.


Mr. Hossam Heiba, the CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones presented a report on the outcomes of his recent visit to Belgium from February 19th to 22nd. The visit aimed to prepare for the upcoming joint investment conference in Egypt in collaboration with the European Commission in Brussels. Heiba highlighted numerous meetings with senior officials from the European Commission, Belgian, and European private sectors. European officials expressed appreciation for Egypt's economic reform program and eagerness to participate in the conference. The European Commission affirmed readiness to cooperate with Egypt in organizing the conference and expressed interest in enhancing trade exchange and investment levels. Discussions included potential renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in the Middle East, including Egypt, for export to Europe. Emphasis was placed on the importance of a roadmap during the conference to facilitate trade and restore confidence for companies interested in investing in the Egyptian market. The conference will focus on priority sectors for Egypt and the EU, such as green hydrogen, renewable energy, green technology, agriculture, and food security. Egypt expressed openness to adding additional sectors to the conference sessions as proposed by the European side in coordination with Egypt.
