In a historic session on 16/01/2024, the EGX witnessed an extraordinary surge, marking the highest turnover in 15 years since 2009. The exchange saw a total turnover of EGP 6.4 billion, achieving a record high for the EGX30 index, closing at 29,638 points.
Over two consecutive sessions between yesterday and today, the EGX added around 1,000 points, resulting in a Year-to-Date (YTD) performance of +8.21% in less than a month.
Talaat Moustafa Group Holding (TMGH) set a new record at EGP 29.75/share, reflecting a YTD performance of 23.20%. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt (ADIB) also reached a historical high at EGP 45.05/share, boasting a YTD performance of +12.7%. Alexandria Containers And Goods (ALCN) closed at its historical high of EGP 55/share, achieving a YTD performance of +8.2%.
Credit Agricole Egypt (CIEB) concluded at its historical high of EGP 25.01/share, showing a YTD performance of 13.7%. ETEL closed near its historical high at EGP 40.20/share, previously recorded on 13/11/2023, closing at EGP 39.50/share. Elswedy Electric (SWDY) mirrored ETEL's performance, closing at 31.60/share, inching close to its historical high of EGP 31.90.
The majority of the listed stocks are trading in the green and are either near their All-Time High or a 52-week high price.
