Edita Enters Iraq Market Through Strategic Partnership with TJA

Edita Food Industries S.A.E. (EFID.CA & EFID.L), a key player in Egypt’s snack food market, has inked a partnership deal with Iraq's TJA. The agreement involves acquiring a 49% stake in TJA for USD 8 million via a capital increase, marking Edita's entry into Iraq's production landscape.

TJA, a local snack manufacturer in Iraq, offers quality packaged snacks and operates a factory poised to support Edita’s regional growth. The partnership establishes Edita Iraq under a UAE holding company, granting management control. Edita will acquire a factory with three production lines, enhancing its production capabilities.

To facilitate knowledge transfer, a technical assistance agreement will optimize production efficiency. A trademark deal secures Edita’s brand launch in Iraq, expanding its product range. By transitioning to local production, Edita aims to strengthen its presence in Iraq, moving from export-oriented operations, bolstered by brands like Molto and Tiger Tail, which generated USD 10.2 million in 2023.
